What we've been up to lately!!

It's been a while since I've done a general information update so I thought I'd fill everyone in with what is happening in the Peereboom household - this post I'm going to focus on what Roelof has been up to lately.

Roelof has about 3 weeks left of his semester and then a week of exams.  He then will have completed his second year towards his Master's of Divinity program at Calvin Seminary.  We hope that we only have about a year and a half left but we will see.  It has been a long haul.  This will be our 6th year of schooling.  We are now finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.  When asked how its going at seminary we usually say good, and for the most it has been, but there are times when the burden feels too heavy.  Schedules are busy, housing is very small, and money is always tight.  But God has been and is always faithful to us.  He places people in our lives that make our experiences here at Seminary joyful.  He places family in our lives to encourage us along the way.  He provides for us in so many ways we never could have imagined!  And for all this we are thankful!

This summer Roelof has the privilege of participating in a program called Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE). He will be situated at a mental health institution here in Grand Rapids will he will learn different pastoral skills in dealing with the mentally ill.  He is looking forward to "getting his feet wet" and doing something practical this summer.  It is a 10 week intensive program in which he has to pay to attend.  Most internships are paid positions but this one is the opposite - another added unexpected expense!

The next 3 weeks are going to be intensive for Roelof as he has multiple papers, assignments and exams.  Please pray that he can maintain his focus and that he will be able to get everything done on time.  That means for Leah and I that we won't see him much as he'll be spending time at nights at school to get his stuff completed. Roelof will have about a week off before he starts his CPE assignment so we're trying to think of something to do as a family before our summer gets crazy!!  With me working 24/7 for three weeks this summer, including a trip to Oregon, it's going to be hard to balance things, but we'll get through!
