"I am Yours and You are Mine" ~ A Story to Tell

Today our family was able to sit in church all together. This was a blessing. We sang Oceans.  This song has been a song of my heart for over two years time.  The last time our family was able to sing this song was at my grandfathers funeral over two years ago. This morning as the praise team lead the intro, my heart caught the familiar anthem of hope and struggle and I couldn’t form the words on my lips. Tears welled my eyes, my chest filled with the workings of the Holy Spirit. “You’ve never failed and You won’t start now.”

As our story continues to unfold, all we can ask for is love, grace and more love and grace. Our story is ours alone to tell.  No one else can tell it for us.  The only being who knows us more intimately than we know ourselves is our God.  He is working all things new and will continue to do so until his good work comes to completion. When I was reading through my devotions earlier this week, I came to the familiar words in 1 Corinthians 13 chapter.  The handy thing about the Bible App is that it allows me to read different versions and I chose to I read those familiar words again using the Amplified Bible which reads,

“…it is not provoked [nor overly sensitive and easily angered]; it does not take into account a wrong endured. It does not rejoice at injustice, but rejoices with the truth [when right and truth prevail]. Love bears all things [regardless of what comes], believes all things [looking for the best in each one], hopes all things [remaining steadfast during difficult times], endures all things [without weakening].

Jesus calls us to love each and every day and I have to admit, I’m the biggest failure in this. I have not loved. I have chosen not to be steadfast during difficult times.  I have not believed all things.  I have not rejoiced with the truth. The enemy seeks to twist our interpretation of love- giving it conditions, consequences, and condemnations.  But the love that Jesus calls us to is the love that is so hard for us to give and accept.  He calls out to us daily, love, love and love.  Love God. Love ourselves. Love others.

Oceans

You call me out upon the waters
The great unknown where feet may fail
And there I find You in the mystery
In oceans deep
My faith will stand

And I will call upon Your name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise, my soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine

Your grace abounds in deepest waters
Your sovereign hand
Will be my guide
Where feet may fail and fear surrounds me
You've never failed and You won't start now

So I will call upon Your name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise, my soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine

Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Savior

Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Savior

Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Savior

I will call upon Your name
Keep my eyes above the waves
My soul will rest in Your embrace

I am Yours and You are mine
